Who applies for the work permit?
In most destinations the employer applies for the work permit on your behalf, using a registered job offer and your supporting documents. You generally cannot apply for a foreign work permit directly.
Bring your question to the local labour or manpower office, or the destination country's embassy, if you are unsure whether a proposed employer is authorized to sponsor permits.
Why permits are tied to an employer
Most work permits name a specific employer, position and duration. Accepting the job means accepting those terms.
Changing employers usually requires a formal transfer process. Understand the rules before signing anything.
Your obligations as a permit holder
Keep your permit and passport valid, obey the conditions of your permit, and report lost or expired documents to your employer and the authorities promptly.
Working outside the terms of your permit can make your employment unlawful and jeopardize your status.
